General
Tips
|
| |
 |
All customers should save and print their
codes from us in case they need to reinstall the software.
All codes from version 3.1 and above are the same on the
same PC or laptop and should be put in a safe place. |

VISTA & OBD II Pro Serial KIT
|
|
 |
Windows VISTA & OBD II Pro Serial
KIT: if a customer has a serial kit and want to use
it on Vista but needs a USB converter, he is out of luck.
No drivers are availble yet for the USB to serial adapters
for Vista yet. Ours only work to XP, not Vista. The new
full Pro line kits come with a short cable. It only works
with Hyundai, Kia and BMW. Not Chrysler or Honda as told
to us before the release. |

USB
to Serial Port ConversionTips
|
| |
 |
If you have a newer laptop which does not
have a Serial Port you will need a USB to Serial Port
Adapter. Be very selective when purchasing one - Many
do not work well enough to support the OBD II Pro Plus
software. Most brands sold (including some name brands)
do not totally convert the signal correctly. AATEC will
be glad to sell you an adapter FOR OUR COST which we have
tested thoroughly. Note: a defective adaptor may be causing
you problems with other programs as well. |

DUAL
MODE UNIT Tips
|
| |
 |
If you are using OBD II Pro Plus DUAL MODE
UNITS (i.e. your version handles PC and Palm or Pocket
PC) the cable is different than the cable for single mode
versions. The single mode cable has female connectors.
The DUAL MODE cable has male connectors, and is a NULL
Modem cable. (Null modem cables have pin 2 & 3 on
the adapter reversed). Do not swap cables between a single
and a dual mode unit. |
